Dr. Rima Abdel-Massih is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). She joined the transplant Infectious Diseases (ID) group in 2009 after completing a transplant ID fellowship at Mayo Clinic. She became the Associate Director of the ID fellowship at UPMC in 2013 and its Director in 2016. Dr. Abdel-Massih has special interest in developing and instituting models of telemedicine services in infectious diseases. She became the Director of Tele-ID Services in 2016 and led it's growth regionally. The success of tele-ID program and increasing demand for services led to the formation of Infectious Disease Connect (ID Connect), a UPMC backed enterprise, co-founded by Dr. Abdel-Massih, who also serves as President & Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Abdel-Massih is also a member of the IDSA’s Telehealth and Emerging Technology workgroup and serves as a member on the IDSA Compensation Task Force Committee.
