Dr. Miranda So is the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Lead-UHN and Research Director of the Sinai Health-University Health Network Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (SH-UHN ASP) in Toronto, Ontario. She is a Clinician-Investigator with the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute and an Assistant Professor (status-only) at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. Miranda received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPhm) and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degrees from the University of Toronto. She received her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in the field of Epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University.
Dr. So’s research focuses on antimicrobial stewardship in immunocompromised patients, specifically hematology-oncology patients, stem cell transplant and organ transplant recipients. In addition, her work examines the intersection of antimicrobial use, resistance and public health, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, social determinants of health and healthcare policy. Miranda is a frequently invited speaker at international, national and local conferences on infectious diseases topics. She has led or co-authored reviews of literature, white paper, clinical guidance and guidelines on various topics related to infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship. Miranda is a member of the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), American Society of Transplantation (AST) and International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant (ISHLT). She is also a member of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) and is the current Chair of the CSHP Foundation Education Grant Committee. In her spare time, Miranda is a runner and a knitter, though she has not quite mastered doing both simultaneously.
