Bryan T. Alexander, PharmD is currently an inpatient antimicrobial stewardship clinical pharmacist and pharmacy coordinator for the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy program at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE. He has served as an institutional program leader or co-leader for hospital-based antimicrobial stewardship programs continually since 2009. He received his BA in molecular and cell biology from the University of Chicago and his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland. Dr. Alexander’s post-doctoral training included two years of residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was previously a pharmacy clinical coordinator in infectious diseases for eight years at the University of Virginia Medical Center, ultimately co-leading a team of four other infectious diseases pharmacy specialists in clinical practice and antimicrobial stewardship activities, prior to his relocation to Omaha. He has worked on numerous institutional, regional, and national committees representing stewardship interests and infectious disease perspectives, most recently having served as chair of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services working group for creation of clinical criteria for and coordinator for execution of statewide distribution of allocated therapeutics during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Alexander has previously given platform or invited presentations on multiple occasions to regional and national audiences on infectious diseases topics and clinical research, and has continuously lectured in pharmacy and medical schools of the institutions with which he has been affiliated. He has twice won yearly awards for his experiential precepting, both within the VCU School of Pharmacy and the UVA Pharmacy Residency program, as well as the Acute Care Pharmacist of the Year award at Nebraska Medicine in 2021.
