Dr. Priscilla Rupali, MD, DTM&H, FRCP,is a Senior Professor and Head of Infectious Diseases at Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore in South India. Her extensive global education across New Zealand,the USA,and Peru underscores her prominence as an advocate for responsible antibiotic use and a trailblazer in the medical field.Her pioneering efforts led to the establishment of the "Fellowship in General Infectious Diseases." which equips physicians working in secondary/tertiary care settings to make rational treatment plans for infections.Her influence extends to the "Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF) India" initiative, which focuses on global health and humanitarian medicine.This initiative offers comprehensive training in tropical medicine and public health, addressing critical aspects of these fields.Recognizing the indispensable role of clinical pharmacists in infection control and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS),she initiated the "Fellowship in Antimicrobial Stewardship for Pharmacists." This groundbreaking program empowers clinical pharmacists with specialized training, enabling them to significantly contribute to AMS teams and infection control measures.Furthermore,Dr. Rupali is a founding member of the "India COVID Guidelines Initiative."This collaborative effort, spearheaded by Christian Medical College Vellore in collaboration with the Clinical Infectious Diseases Society of India (CIDS), brings together experts to develop context-specific COVID-19 guidelines.Her leadership extends to the recent establishment of the "Centre for Guideline Development" at CMC,where she serves as head and chair. As the Secretary of the Clinical Infectious Disease Society (CIDS) India,she underscores her commitment to advancing infectious disease management and research within the nation. Internationally,Dr Rupali's expertise is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).She contributes as a methodologist for Cystic Echinococcus guidelines and leads the evidence synthesis team for WHO's meningitis guidelines.Currently, she leads the development of Brain Infection guidelines for India in collaboration with CIDS and the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN).Dr.Priscilla Rupali's remarkable contributions continue to shape infectious disease management, medical education, and global health initiatives.
