Kristen A. Feemster, MD MPH MSHP is the Executive Director of Global Medical Affairs for pneumococcal vaccines in the Vaccines / Infectious Diseases Division at Merck Research Laboratories and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Pediatrics- Infectious Diseases at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed her residency and fellowship training in 2010 at CHOP and Penn where she joined the Department of Pediatrics- Infectious Diseases. While on faculty, she was the inaugural Research Director for the Vaccine Education Center, faculty mentor with the Global Health Program, and a principal investigator with PolicyLab and the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness at CHOP. In 2016, she transitioned to a full-time public health role as Medical Director of the Immunization Program and Acute Communicable Diseases at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health until June 2020 when she joined Merck in Global Medical and Scientific Affairs. Dr. Feemster’s research interests have included vaccine policy, vaccine hesitancy and the epidemiology of vaccine preventable diseases both domestically and internationally. In the community, she is a fellow and board member at the College of Physicians and serves on the boards of GE2P2 (Governance, Evidence, Ethics, Policy and Practice) and University Liggett School.
