Dr. Yuan-Po Tu has been a physician at The Everett Clinic since 1995 and is the Optum Washington Medical Director of Infectious Disease and Outbreak Response. Prior to this role, he was the medical director for the Urgent Care Department which serves 200,000 patients per year; this is where he continues to see patients today. Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, he has led several clinical diagnostic research studies including the landmark study, validating nasal swabs. Dr. Tu has a long history of partnering with public health to monitor influenza, COVID-19 and other communicable diseases and is currently serving as the vice-chair of the Washington State Disaster Medical Advisory Committee. Additionally, he is the co-chair for the Annual Infectious Disease Conference in Seattle. His research interests include designing Electronic Medical Record systems to make them easier for providers to use and to optimize prescribing to improve antibiotic stewardship.
