Dr. Zimmer attended medical school at the University of Kansas. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and chief residency at the University of Florida. She then went on to complete a general Infectious Diseases fellowship at Vanderbilt University, followed by a Transplant Infectious Diseases fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. She is an Associate Professor in Infectious Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she serves as the Director of the Oncology Infectious Diseases service line and Associate VIce Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine She is actively involved in medical student education and serves as a block director in the Phase 1 Microbiology and Infectious Diseases courses. She is a member of the IDSA Med COP and serves on the Clinical Educators Mentoring Workgroup. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
