Jie Sun is currently the Harrison distinguished teaching professor of Medicine and the associate director for scientific program in the carter immunology center at the University of Virginia. He obtained his BA and MS degree in China and Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. He then did his postdoc training in viral immunology at the University of Virginia. Jie started his independent career as an assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2011 and moved to the Mayo Clinic in the summer of 2016. In Jan. of 2022, Jie assumed his current position at the University of Virginia. Jie’s lab focuses on host immunity, immunopathology and tissue repair post respiratory viral infection including influenza, respiratory syncytial virus and SARS-CoV-2.
