Asuncion Mejias received her MD and Phd degrees from Universidad de Málaga, Spain, and completed her fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and a Master in Clinical Science at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in the United States. Dr Mejias is a faculty Member in the Department of Infectious Diseases at St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Dr. Mejías’ research focuses on the pathogenesis of airway and respiratory viral diseases, and she has been recognized with several awards for her research, specifically those pertaining to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. She is also a member of several professional organizations, and serves or has served as external reviewer and consultant for different organizations including the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP/CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or the Society for Pediatric Research council. She has contributed with more than 250 publications including original articles, reviews, editorials and book chapters.
