Dr. Andrew Alspaugh is a physician-scientist at Duke University School of Medicine, specializing in Infectious Diseases. Clinically, he takes care of patients with impaired immune function who are therefore at high risk for infections. These patients include those with various types of organ transplantation as well as HIV infection. His laboratory research program focuses on defining the genes and cellular processes used by microorganisms to survive within the infected host. In this setting, he is committed to teaching and training the next generation of investigators who will continue to address these compelling scientific and clinical issues.
