José María Aguado is Professor of Medicine at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit of the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid. Completed their training at the Institute of Transplantation, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He is past-Chairman and Scientific Officer of the Study Group of Infection in Compromised Patients (ESGICH) of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). Coordinator of the Program on Infections in Immunosuppressed non-HIV and infections related to health care of the Center for Networked Biomedical Research in Infectious Diseases (CIBERINFEC) of the ISCIII. Member of the Spanish National Advisory Health Council. Past member of the International Council of the International Immunocompromised Host Society. Councilor of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Group (TTS). Fellow of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM). Assistant Editor of Transplant Infectious Diseases. He has published over 500 articles (h index 56), most of them related to the infection in transplant recipients and other immunocompromised patients.
