Clinical Pharmacy Specialist
The Johns Hopkins Hospital
Baltimore, MD, United States
Dr. Christin Kilcrease is a clinical pharmacist whose clinical and research interest are in the field of HIV/AIDS, with a particular emphasis on treatment strategies that involve long-acting antiretroviral and dual therapy regimens that aim to simplify and optimize adherence and viral suppression (including those with multi-drug resistance). Dr. Kilcrease, as a clinical pharmacist practitioner, has demonstrated that including pharmacists on clinical teams can decrease time to antiretroviral initiation and to viral suppression compared to provider cohorts. She has worked to develop and optimize workflows to improve access and implementation of therapeutics, including PrEP and long-acting antiretrovirals. Her leadership has led to the implementation of injectables in multiple clinic sites within the health-system (most recently, a pediatric site), advocacy for pharmacists to administer maintenance injectables, and development of the corresponding training materials for pharmacists administering long-acting antiretrovirals. Her future endeavors include expansion of injectable antiretrovirals to community sites that promote ease of access for all patients.
