Research Associate
bioMérieux
Eleanor Horrocks is a research associate at bioMérieux. She has a BS in microbiology from Washington State University. Eleanor completed a summer internship with bioMérieux in 2018, and upon graduating in 2019 went back to work for bioMérieux as a research associate within the molecular biology department of R&D. Her main work focuses on supporting FilmArray and SpotFire panel development with discrepancy assays. However, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, her work shifted to SARS-CoV-2 variant surveillance. Within this work she monitored new variants that could pose a significant impact to the panels’ detection of SARS-CoV-2 and tracked any variants with lineage defining mutations within the assay primers. Eleanor is currently working towards a master’s degree in bioinformatics from the University of Birmingham.
