Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer

Shama Cash-Goldwasser, MD MPH, is an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based at the Minnesota Department of Health. She is an infectious diseases physician by training. Prior to EIS, she studied endemic bacterial zoonotic causes of fever in Tanzania, and arboviral casuses of fever in Kenya. During EIS, she served on CDC's mpox clinical consultation team and now leads a study on the pathophysiology of severe mpox in patients with AIDS. Her primary interests are prevention and control of emerging and neglected zoonoses.
