Prof Lazarus is head of the health systems team at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona. He is Vice-Chairman of the board of the EASL International Liver Foundation, where he leads work on the micro-elimination of hepatitis C, co-chair of the HIV Outcomes Coalition and on the steering committee of the European Commission’s Joint Action on infectious diseases. He is the author of more than 200 publications and currently a commissioner of the EASL-Lancet European Liver Commission and lead guest editor of the The Lancet HIV series on HIV outcomes beyond viral suppression. Prof Lazarus is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Drug Policy, HIV Medicine and the Journal of Hepatology. He is also part of the European and Spanish viral hepatitis elimination coalitions. Previously, he worked for 11 years at WHO Europe and 3 at the Global Fund as well as founding director of Health Systems Global and board chair of the foundation AFEW International.
