Duke University
My name is Melissa Cutshaw, MD MPH, and I am a third year resident with Duke Internal Medicine. I plan to pursue a fellowship in infectious diseases. My current research focuses on the intersection of HIV and cardiovascular disease prevention. Specifically, I am investigating risk factors for weight gain associated with switching to antiretroviral therapy regimens containing integrase strand inhibitors. I am also leading a project addressing the role of social determinants of health in cardiovascular risk factor control in people living with HIV. My other research interests include tropical diseases and public health. I have experience studying congenital Chagas disease in Bolivia and COVID-19 transmission among meat packing plant and farmworkers in North Carolina.
