Dr. Shereen Katrak is a Medical Officer at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at University of California, San Francisco. At CDPH, Dr. Katrak serves as Director of the CDC-funded TB Free California, a program focused on ensuring that patients receive appropriate screening and treatment to prevent tuberculosis (TB). In this capacity, she works to raise awareness of TB as a preventable disease and health equity issue, train medical providers on evidence-based practices, and engage patients and communities at highest risk of TB infection. Dr. Katrak also serves as an expert consultant on the management of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis at CDPH and provides clinical training through the UCSF Curry International TB Center of Excellence. Her research interests include the treatment of patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis and the management of immunocompromised patients with tuberculosis. She cares for patients at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
