Ahmed R. Alsuwaidi MD, FRCPC, FAAP, FIDSA; Professor of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases; College of Medicine and Health Sciences; UAE University.
Dr. Alsuwaidi is a pediatric infectious diseases consultant at Tawam Hospital. He earned his MD degree from the UAE University in 2002. Subsequently, Dr. Alsuwaidi pursued postgraduate training in Pediatrics at Dalhousie University and IWK Health Centre, Halifax, Canada. Following that, he completed fellowship training in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, and was certified as a pediatric infectious diseases specialist by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Alsuwaidi is also board-certified in pediatrics from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Alsuwaidi is currently the Acting Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, at UAE University. He also chairs the UAE National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) and the National COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Committee. Dr. Alsuwaidi is also a member of the Regional Immunization Technical Advisory Group (RITAG) in the Eastern Midetranean Region.
His main research interests include the bioenergetics of respiratory viral infections (influenza virus and respiratory syncytial virus), childhood tuberculosis, the seroprevalence of vaccine-preventable diseases, and vaccine hesitancy. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals.
