Dr. Stephanie Sweitzer (MSPH, MD) is a clinical fellow in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her Master of Science in Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a focus on Global Disease Epidemiology and Control. She subsequently contributed to research on HIV prevalence, access to care, and barriers to care among underserved populations in Lesotho and South Africa. She returned to the U.S. to obtain her MD at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Emory University, where her research focused on engagement in care for people with HIV and complex psychosocial needs, as well as syphilis screening in the acute care setting. She is currently completing her ID fellowship at UNC. She is passionate about treating and preventing infectious diseases among underserved populations, and on improving clinical services to optimize health outcomes for individuals in these populations.
