Medical Student
Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, MAHE, India
My name is Nidhi Prasad. I am a medical student from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India. I hold an MBBS degree. I was born in Dayton, Ohio but moved back to India at the age of 8 due to family circumstances. My interest in infectious diseases stemmed from micriobiology classes in medical school where we learned about different disease causing organisms. I was in awe when we were shown bacteria in gram stain under the microscope. Then came COVID-19 which had the whole world wrapped in a conundrum. This further fueled my interest in infectious diseases and I decided to look for opportunities, which led me to ID week. I can't wait to be at the conference amidst some of the greatest minds and understand what the current fields of interest are. I hope to explore different areas and talk to different people in the infectious diseases community. My current goals include matching into Internal Medicine Residency and then pursuing an infectious diseases fellowship. I hope to be able to balance a career in research as well as teaching in academic institutions.
Outside the hospital my hobbies include crocheting, playing badminton and painting. I also love reading thrillers.
I am eagerly awaiting ID week and I look forward to listening in on the presentations to be given by the esteemed speakers.
