Internal Medicine Resident
University of Rochester Medical Center
My name is Kelly Russo, MD, and I am a current Internal Medicine resident at the University of Rochester Medical Center. As an Infectious Diseases fellowship applicant, I have a strong passion for the field, and have had the privilege of working under inspirational mentors who invigorated my passion for research. I am innately driven to make a difference in the field of Infectious Diseases through my passion for scholarship, devotion to superlative patient care, and unyielding hunger for knowledge and understanding. I was particularly inspired by the Infectious Diseases Society of America’s (IDSA) global campaign for World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, Gram-Negative Resistance: Hiding in Plain Sight. Through my research on P. aeruginosa resistance patterns in left ventricular assist device-associated infections, I gained an immense appreciation for techniques employed to manage these chronic, continuously evolving infections.
