Chief Fellow - Infectious Diseases
Vanderbilt University Medical Center
I am currently a Chief Fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Infectious Diseases (ID) Fellowship and a Leaders in Epidemiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Public Health (LEAP) Fellow, sponsored by IDSA, SHEA, PIDS and CDC. I grew up in southern West Virginia and completed Medical School and Internal Medicine Residency at West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown, WV. I was part of the Global Health Track at WVU.
I plan to use my LEAP fellowship, ID fellowship, and research time to acquire specific skills in the management, evaluation, and leadership of antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention programs. I am working closely with the Tennessee Department of Health to learn about the structure and function of public health administration. My current research centers on evaluating the acquisition and confirmatory testing process of our regional Antibiotic Resistance Laboratory Network to identify barriers and opportunities for systemic improvement of multi-drug organisms reporting across Tennessee.
My career goals are to become a leader in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention while providing excellent patient care and championing medical education.
