Koh Shinohara, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine and an ID physician in the Kyoto University Hospital. He was graduate from the Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University, and completed PhD course, in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine. He completed internal medicine residency at Kyoto City Hospital, Kyoto, Japan, and ID fellowship at Kyoto City Hospital and the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. His main interests are ID in immunocompromised hosts, especially in Transplant ID. His research focuses on molecular epidemiology of pathogenic bacteria, especially Gram positive bacteria, and mechanisims of horizontal transfer of antimicrobial resistant genes. Dr. Shinohara is ID/IM board certified in Japan.
