Nicholas Lehnertz, MD, MPH, MHS is a Medical Specialist at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). He is board certified in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health, and did both his public health training and his residency training at Johns Hopkins. His current work at MDH is focused on responding to current and recent outbreaks of mpox, syphilis, congenital syphilis and HIV. He also works to understand transmission dynamics of infectious diseases, including COVID-19, invasive GAS, through the use of whole genome sequencing. Finally, he supports the use of qualitative research methods to underand the various drivers impacting infectious disease acquisition and transmission.
