Dr. Heidi Torres received her undergraduate degree in Biology and her medical degree from University of Puerto Rico, where she is originally from. After graduating medical school with honors, she completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UT Health in San Antonio, Texas before moving to New York to pursue a fellowship in Infectious Diseases with the Weill Cornell Medicine program. During fellowship Dr. Torres became interested in infection control and epidemiology. She currently serves as an attending physician of Infectious Diseases and assistant hospital epidemiologist for the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Campus. She is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Her research interests include infection prevention, epidemiology, emerging diseases, and prevention of communicable diseases after disaster.
