Dr. Sarah Hamid is an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer assigned to the Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division at CDC. She earned her PhD in epidemiology from Emory University, her MPH in chronic disease epidemiology and global health from Yale University, and her bachelor’s degree in human biology and history from Brown University. Her work focuses on respiratory disease surveillance and epidemiology both in the United States and in low-and middle-income countries. Before joining EIS, she served as a regional epidemiologist for the CDC’s Global Disease Detection Center in Egypt, a technical officer for the WHO Health Emergencies Programme in the Philippines, and an epidemiology consultant for the Global Influenza Programme at WHO.
