Lauryn Caster is a third-year medical student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska. She completed her undergraduate education at Creighton University with a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Biology. Her project aims to understand the barriers to early diagnosis of HIV and how our testing procedures can be improved to increase early detection and treatment for patients with HIV. She was awarded a Medical Student Summer Research Project award in 2022 to evaluate missed opportunities for confirmatory HIV testing at UNMC under the mentorship of Dr. Sara Bares.
