Born in Venezuela, Veronica is a graduate of Zulia University's School of Medicine (1989). She then practiced medicine in Venezuela, completed a fellowship at the School of Malariology and Environmental Health, as well as a obtaining a master’s degree in public health (Epidemiology), all before moving to the United States in 1992.
After arriving in the US, Veronica attended the Bloomsburg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University for a second master’s degree in public health (Epidemiology). Veronica has clinical experience working in several US hospitals; however, her major focus has been in public health and later in product safety. Dr. Urdaneta served as the State Epidemiologist for the Pennsylvania Department of Health (2002-10), before moving into the pharmaceutical industry. Veronica has been at Moderna for the past 21/2 years, and currently she is the Global Clinical Safety Lead for the COVID-19 Program.
