Aasith is a first year Infectious Disease fellow. She attended Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) in Lima, Peru for undergrad and medical school including rotations at the Alexander von Humboldt Tropical Medicine Institute. She later became a postdoctoral research fellow at the Laboratory of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and the Tropical Medicine Institute at UPCH in Lima and Cusco, Peru. She then completed her Internal Medicine internship and Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. During residency, she was selected for the Global Health Pathway residency track and completed the Minnesota-based Global Health course. She is certified in ASTMH CTropMed®. Her internal medicine continuity clinic was based at a medical clinic that served primarily immigrants. Most recently, has been involved in research in health behaviors related to HPV vaccination in peruvian women and COVID-19 vaccination in people living with HIV in Philadelphia. Aasith is interested in vaccine-preventable diseases, women’s health, and infections in mobile populations including immigrants and travelers.
