Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ceyhan graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1981. He started his specialization in pediatrics at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in the same year and completed it in 1985. Following his studies in the Nutrition and Metabolism Unit between 1983-1985, he received the degree of scientific specialization in this branch. He completed his military service in Adana Military Hospital between 1985-1987 and his compulsory service in Ankara Etimesgut State Hospital between 1987-1989. In 1988, he became an associate professor of pediatrics and in 1989, he started to work as a lecturer at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Unit and completed his subspecialization in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. In 1995, he became a professor of pediatrics. In 1998, he worked in the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital in the United States. Prof. Dr. Ceyhan won the Gürson Child Health Foundation, Cihat Tahsin Gürson Research Award in 1985 and recieved second place award in 1986. Prof. Dr. Ceyhan had the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) incentive award in 1988. He is working on serological and clinical efficacy of immunization, identification of infectious diseases by molecular genetic methods, epidemiology of infection and identification of antibacterial drug genes in bacteria. Prof. Dr. Ceyhan is currently the president of the Infectious Diseases Society and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and the secretary general of the Pediatric Specialty Academy Association. He continues to work as the Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.
