Dr. Lepak is an Infectious Disease physician at the University of Wisconsin with tripart duties that include patient care, antimicrobial PK/PD research, and antimicrobial stewardship at University of Wisconsin Hospitals. Under the direction and tutelage of Dr's. Craig and Andes, he has evolved into an internationally recognized expert in antimicrobial pharmacodynamics. He is co-Priniciple Investigator for PK/PD studies at the University of Wisconsin with Dr. Andes. Studies utilize numerous different murine model designs that include multiple different bacterial and fungal pathogens in evaluating the PK/PD properties of antimicrobial agents that are early in development as well as those that have been FDA approved and utilized for numerous years. The goal of the lab is to improve patient care by optimizing drug dosing design and susceptibility breakpoints based on in vivo PK/PD results. He is the medical director of antimicrobial stewardship at UW Health and leads numerous stewardship reseach and quality improvement projects. Finally, he attends regularly on all inpatient infectious disease services including general ID, surgical ID, and transplant/immunocompromised ID.
