Dr. Raphael Shaw is an Infectious Diseases physician at Waterbury Hospital, CT, Clinician Educator and researcher at Quinnipiac University and Yale University School of Medicine. He recently completed a fellowship at Harlem Hospital/ Columbia University Medical Center in New York (June 2023), where he led the development of various research projects focused on the recent Human Monkeypox outbreak.
Dr Shaw’s research interests include, HIV/AIDS epidemiology and management, Health Disparities in patient access to care, Global Health and Human Monkeypox clinical presentations and management. Dr Shaw is the recipient of the Research Fellow Award 2023 at Harlem Hospital, he also received a Travel Award for this poster submission at ID week.
Previously, he was a clinical instructor and researcher at SUNY Downstate Medical center in Brooklyn, NY, where he led the successful application for a multimillion-dollar RO-1 NIH grant aimed at reducing health disparities. He is the author of several peer-reviewed articles and poster presentations.
Raphael Shaw graduated with a Medical Doctorate from the University of Cocody, In Ivory coast. He completed a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Marketing at the prestigious European Business school (ESCP) in Paris, France and a Master of Public Health at the Yale University School of Public Health. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
