John C. O’Horo, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P. is a board certified internist, intensivist, infectious disease specialist and associate professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. He obtained his M.D. from the University of Wisconsin, his Masthers in Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and did internal medicine residency at Aurora Healthcare in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Subsequently, he did fellowships in critical care and infectious diseases at Mayo Clinic-Rochester before joining the staff in 2016. He currently is serving as the chair of the Mayo Clinic personal protective equipment task force, and works on several groups coordinating Mayo Clinic’s response to COVID-19, including infection prevention and control, diagnostic stewardship, and is the deputy director for emergency management. Outside of COVID-19 response, he is the quality chair for the division of infectious diseases, director of infection prevention and control data management, and medical director for clinical systems education.
