Dr. Milissa U. Jones, is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland. After completing her pediatric residency training at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), she practiced as a general pediatrician at the United States Military Academy, West Point. Thereafter, she undertook a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at WRNMMC where she also completed a Master of Public Health in tropical public health at USU. She went on to practice pediatric infectious diseases and serve as core faculty for the residency training program at Tripler Army Medical Center. During this time, Dr. Jones provided medical care to military health beneficiaries residing across the Pacific region including telehealth support for beneficiaries residing in Guam, Korea, and Japan.
Presently, Dr. Jones serves as the Deputy Director of the Translational Medicine Unit, a clinical trials unit at the USU. Her primary clinical role is the management and support of the unit’s clinical trial portfolio including observational studies as well as vaccine, device, and drug trials. Additionally, Dr. Jones serves as a pediatric infectious disease attending at WRNMMC. Her clinical research focuses on pediatric respiratory infections, respiratory viral epidemiology, and health disparities.
