Dr. Victoria Chu is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellow at University of California, San Francisco. She attended UCSF for medical school and completed her pediatrics residency at Northern California Kaiser Permanente, Oakland and an MPH at UC Berkeley. Subsequently, she worked at the California Department of Public Health in the Immunizations Branch before joining CDC as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in the Respiratory Viruses Branch. During her time at CDC, she was involved in measles and adenovirus outbreak investigations prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the CDC COVID-19 response, she worked primarily on case and contact investigations of the early SARS-CoV-2 cases; transmission studies in households, camps, and schools; and performance evaluations of home antigen tests. Her current research in fellowship focuses on using metagenomic next-generation sequencing to better understand the acquisition and transmission of antimicrobial resistance and hospital-associated infections.
