Nested within the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) is a professional home for clinicians and researchers working on the front lines of the HIV epidemic. As HIVMA's associate director of public policy and advocacy, Jose leads policy and advocacy efforts on priority issues, including appropriations, the Ending HIV as an Epidemic initiative, research, evidence-based prevention, and other public health and physician workforce issues.
Jose is an accomplished government affairs strategist and thought partner with 17 years of combined experience at the municipal, state, and federal levels, with a proven record of coalition-building and advancing policy and advocacy priorities. He is viewed as a subject matter expert in public health with a well-developed network in Congress and within the broader health ecosystem.
