Dr. Winkler attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University where she was in the medical scientist training program and obtained her PhD studying beta-lactamase structure and function under the mentorship of Dr Robert Bonomo. She subsequently completed internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, infectious disease fellowship at the combined Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital infectious disease fellowship. During her second year of infectious disease fellowship, she completed the infection prevention, hospital epidemiology, and antimicrobial stewardship track at Massachusetts General Hospital. She then completed a clinical microbiology fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She has recently taken a job as the Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship at Emory University Hospital Midtown and an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University.
