Dr. Fangman received his B.A. in Political Science at Carleton College in Minnesota and his M.D.
from the University of Minnesota. He completed residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
in 1998 through the Harvard Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Program and from
1998-2003 was the Assistant Director of that Program. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr.
Fangman worked as a primary care provider at several Federally Qualified Health Centers in the
Boston area. Choosing to focus on the care of patients living with HIV, he pursued adult
infectious diseases training through Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women's
Hospital in Boston. He joined the faculty at Medical College of Wisconsin in 2005 and where he
has held several roles including Medical Director of the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin as
well as the Interim Division Chief for Infectious Disease. He assumed his current role as Senior
Medical Director of Ambulatory Care for Froedtert and Medical College.
In October 2020, he left Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin to become the Chief
Medical Officer for Mass General Brigham Community Physicians where he provides
operational and medical guidance to over 2000 of Mass General Brigham’s community-based
primary care and specialists throughout the Northeast. He is a passionate believer in the utility
of data to assure optimal outcomes in infectious diseases care and has worked with Epic EHR to
improve documentation of care for persons living with HIV. He also sits on the Epic Infectious
Disease Clinical Advisory Board. He is the HIVMA Representative to the IDSA Clinical Advisory
Board and is also on the HIV Medical Association Board. He can be reached at
