Dr. Senu Apewokin is an Associate Professor of Medicine and founding director of the Transplant Infectious Disease Program at the University of Cincinnati . Prior to that he led the supportive care program for a large cancer program at the Univ of Arkansas Myeloma Institute. He is also the principle investigator for an NIH-funded lab that focuses on identifying host factors that confer protection and conversely, correlates of adverse outcomes for human diseases. His research focuses on the pathologies that plague immunocompromised hosts. He studies host-microbe interactions during immunosuppressive events such as cancer chemotherapy and organ transplantation using advanced tools such as next generation sequencing and human organoid models
