Shama Cash-Goldwasser is an Epidemic Intelligence Services Officer with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based at the Minnesota Department of Health. During her medicine residency, Shama received a Fogarty Global Health Fellowship to study endemic bacterial zoonoses in northern Tanzania; during her infectious diseases fellowship at Stanford University (class of 2020), her research focused on arboviral causes of fever among children in Kenya. Following completion of her ID fellowship, she worked as science advisor for Resolve To Save Lives to support COVID-19 response efforts globally. During EIS, she served on CDC's national mpox response, where she contributed to national treatment recommendations and is currently co-leading a CDC-NIH collaborative clinical study on severe mpox among patients with advanced HIV.
