Karen Wendel completed her internal medicine and infectious disease fellowship training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is currently the Medical Director of the Denver Prevention Training Center, the Director of HIV/STI Prevention for the Public Health Institute at Denver Health, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Science Center, Division of Infectious Diseases. She also serves as the Medical Director of the CDC funded Colorado Strengthening the US Response to Resistant Gonorrhea (SURRG) project. Her work in teaching, research and patient care are focused on the prevention and care of HIV and STIs.
