Dr. Lauri Markowitz is the Team Lead for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Team in the Division of Viral Diseases in National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, CDC, and is the Associate Director for Science for HPV. She received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Over her career at CDC, Dr. Markowitz has focused on epidemiologic research and policy for a variety of vaccine preventable diseases and sexually transmitted infections. In her current position, Dr. Markowitz has worked with the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to develop recommendations for use of HPV vaccine in the United States. She also has provided consultation related to HPV vaccine to a variety of national and international organizations and has developed projects to monitor impact of the HPV vaccination program in the United States
