Dr. Bourgi is an assistant professor of Medicine and physician-scientist in the Division of Infectious Diseases. He received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut before completing his internal medicine residency and serving as a chief resident at Henry Ford Wayne State University. Dr. Bourgi then completed his infectious diseases and HIV fellowship at Vanderbilt University and joined the faculty at IU in 2018. His research focuses on studying the metabolic complications of HIV and long-term use of antiretroviral therapy through observational cohort studies of adults with HIV. He is also interested in studying the association between some of the antiretroviral therapies with weight gain and investigating the underlying mechanism.
