Dr. Jennie H. Kwon is an Associate Professor of Medicine, the Medical Director of Infection Prevention, and the Senior Epidemiologist at Washington University in St. Louis. The Kwon Lab focuses on the epidemiology, transmission, and prevention of infections due to antibiotic resistant organisms (ARO) and Clostridium difficile. Dr. Kwon conducts clinical and translational research assessing the fecal microbiome in patients with ARO infections, and the role of the microbiome of the built environment in ARO and C. difficile transmission. She conducts her research both in the laboratory and the patient bedside. Dr. Kwon’s work is funded by the CDC, NIH, AHRQ, and multiple foundations. Dr. Kwon was the 2016-2018 National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Anniversary Fellow, is currently the Chair of the SHEA Research Committee, and a member of the IDSA Antimicrobial Resistance and Awards Committees. Dr. Kwon is also a standing member of CDC Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC). Dr. Kwon’s experiences as a clinician, scientist, and public health advocate encompass her interests to translate the latest research findings into better quality care and outcomes for patients.
