Dimitrios P. Kontoyiannis is the Robert C Hickey Chair in Clinical Care and Deputy Head, Division of Internal Medicine and Professor in the Division of Internal Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Kontoyiannis has authored over 670 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has given over 370 lectures in national/ international conferences and academic institutions. He is considered the leading mycology expert world-wide (expertscape.com) with an H index of 127 and over 68000 citations. His research group is credited for many and sustained contributions to clinical, translational and experimental mycology. He is the past president elect of Immunocompromised Host Society (2016-2018) and the president elect for MSGERC 92024-2026). He is recipient of many national and international awards and memberships in honorary medical and scientific societies. He is the leader of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM) Diamond Excellence in Mycology Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the only US center to receive such designation by ECMM.
