Dr. Patrick Harris trained as an Infectious Disease Physician and Medical Microbiologist and is currently a Staff Specialist in Microbiology at Pathology Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He is also a group leader within the Infection and Immunology Theme at the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research. Dr. Harris acquired his medical degree from University College London Medical School in 2001 and has worked in Malawi, Singapore and Australia. His research interests include the clinical management of antibiotic-resistant pathogens, particularly extended-spectrum beta-lactamase and carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales. He also has an interest in the clinical application of whole-genome sequencing for infection control and outbreak investigation.
