Derrick Chen, MD, is an Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist. He is the Medical Director of Clinical Microbiology at UW Health and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. As a pathologist, he is skilled at diagnosing disease through laboratory analysis of bodily fluids, cells, and tissues. He oversees bacterial, molecular, fungal, parasite, immunology, chemistry, hematology, and sendout sections of the laboratory. Dr. Chen strives to improve patient care and the laboratory in his daily practice and his research activities center around value and quality improvement. As an educator, he is in charge of or involved in training medical students, graduate students, pathology residents, pharmacy residents, nursing students, and adult and pediatric infectious disease fellows.
