Dr. Yun, a board certified internist and infectious disease specialist, is a Colonel in the United States Air Force. She received her bachelor's degree at Colorado College and her medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine. She completed residency and infectious disease fellowship training at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. She is a Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and Adjunct Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at UTHealth San Antonio. She currently serves as the Deputy Commander for Medical Services at Brooke Army Medical Center. She is also the Chief of Medical Services for the San Antonio Market of the Defense Health Agency.
Dr. Yun currently serves as Chair, IDWeek Program Committee and as a Trustee for the ABIM Foundation, and previously served on the ABIM Infectious Disease Board and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s Residency Review Committee for Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Disease Society of America, and has received numerous teaching and leadership awards. Her research has focused on multidrug-resistant bacteria, infection prevention and hospital epidemiology, travel and deployment related infections, and respiratory viral infections. She has served as Medical Director of Infection Prevention at two referral military hospitals and while deployed to Afghanistan.
