Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellow
University at Buffalo
I am Ramesh Kordi, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellow, PGY6, at University at Buffalo, NY.
Upon graduating from medical school, at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS), Iran in 1994, I worked as a general practitioner in a small town in the northeast of the country for 18 months. I was assigned as the head of public health and chair of the breastfeeding committee. I was also the physician in charge of the ER department. When we had pediatric patients in critical condition, we had to transfer ill children to the advanced medical centers by ambulance. I was accepted into a pediatric residency in 1995 and completed my training in pediatrics in 1998 at MUMS. I obtained the national pediatrics board certificate with the second rank from the top among 234 graduates in 1998. Afterward, I collaborated with a great team to establish a PICU at the Sheikh Children's Hospital, Mashhad, Iran. A section of our unit was later devoted to postoperative care for neonates.
I immigrated to the United States in 2016. After being ECFMG certified and passing USMLE step 3, I applied for a Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at University at Buffalo. I have worked as a clinical fellow at Oshei Children's Hospital, Buffalo, since July 2021.
