Dr. Patricia Schirmer is a Medical Epidemiologist and Infectious Diseases physician for Veterans Health Administration's Public Health National Program Office. She completed her medical degree at Northwestern University and did her residency and fellowship training at Stanford University. Currently, she primarily works in public health as well as does direct clinical care in a community hospital. Her areas of expertise and interest include influenza and influenza-like illness, epidemiology of H1N1, zika, antimicrobial stewardship, and lookback investigations. Dr. Schirmer’s scientific publications include articles on influenza, dengue, Haemophilus influenza, oseltamivir, antimicrobial usage measures, tuberculosis, and zika.
